The valley is sealed off from the Cascade Array on the northeast and from the Klamath Mountains to your northwest. Within the much north the terrain is rugged and intensely forested, turning into wetter around the coastal side and drier and barren in the upper northeast. From the south the Central Valley is closed off because of the transverse rang
